Abstract:
To provide a method for inexpensive and efficiently producing a β-hydroxy-acrylonitrile-based compound useful as an intermediate for agrochemicals.
The method for producing a β-hydroxy-acrylonitrile-based compound represented by formula (I) [wherein Q is a phenyl group or the like which may be substituted with R1; T is a phenyl group or the like substituted with R2; R1 and R2 are each a halogen or an alkyl or the like which may be substituted] or its salt comprises reacting a compound represented by formula (II): Q-CH2CN [wherein Q is as described above] with a compound represented by formula (III): T-COZ [wherein T is as described above; Z is a halogen or an alkoxy] in the presence of a metal alcoholate.
