PURPOSE: To produce the woven fabric having a good weave by pressing out a loose weft outside the row of warps with an air flow of an air nozzle arranged between a ground selvage and a trimmed selvage on the side of a receiver, the loose weft being produced by the pressing-back of a retainer due to the stop of a projectile.
CONSTITUTION: An air nozzle 12 is arranged between the ground selvage and the trimmed selvage on the side of a receiving unit 2 in a gripper loom. A projectile 5 received a weft delivered from a weft cheese 6 from a projectile feeder 9 on the side of a picking unit 1 is stopped with a brake 11 from the just front part of a reed toward the cloth fell in a receiving unit 2, and an electromagnetic valve 13 is operated at an angle of only 50 degree in the rotation of a loom main shaft 16 to jet out compressed air on the weft through the air nozzle 12 from a compressor 17, thus pressing out the loose weft pressed back with the retainer 10 outside the row of the warps to prevent the affection of the loose weft to the row of the warps.
