To provide a method for producing an inkjet recording material, which is excellent in the coating properties and gloss of an undercoating layer and in which the coated layer of an ink receptive layer is not cracked.

The method for producing the inkjet recording material comprises the steps of: applying a coating liquid for the undercoating layer, which contains a water-dispersibility resin having 17-40°C glass transition temperature, a white pigment and lower alcohol, onto a non-absorptive support; and then applying a coating liquid for the ink receptive layer, which mainly contains inorganic fine particles having ≤500 nm average secondary particle size and further contains polyvinyl alcohol or a derivative thereof as a binder, onto the undercoating layer.
