To produce an interior finish material for cars which is light in weight and high in rigidity and strength and to facilitate the disposal treatment of the material.
Basalt is melted to form fibers 9-20 μm in diameter, and the the fibers are cut to be 20-80 mm in length to form a chopped strand. The chopped strands are interlaced flatly to form basalt fiber mats 2a and 2b. The mats 2a and 2b are laminated on both sides of a thin plate of polyurethane foam 1 through a thermosetting adhesive, and a skin material 3 such as a fabric is laminated on one side of the basalt fiber mat. The multi laminate article 5 is heated and pressed between molding molds 6 and 7 at 80-150°C so as to cure the adhesive by heating for forming into a predetermined shape.
