PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make production of a ketone from an epoxide meet a high yield of the ketone with a low yield of an alcohol.SOLUTION: When a ketone is produced from a compound E including at least one epoxy group by using a mixture comprising at least one noble metal and at least one metal oxide as a catalyst system, the metal oxide includes titanium dioxide, zirconium dioxide or a mixture of the two oxides or is an oxide composed thereof.
