Abstract:
To provide a method for simply producing a ketone containing a nitrogen atom at the α-position such as an α-aminoketone in a high yield.
The production method comprises reacting an alcohol represented by formula (1) (R1 is a hydrogen atom or an organic group) with a nitrogen atom-containing compound represented by formula (2) (R2 and R3 are the same or different and are each a hydrogen atom or an organic group and R2 and R3 may be mutually bonded with an adjacent nitrogen atom to form a ring) in the presence of a compound of an element of the group VIII of the periodic table to give a ketone represented by formula (3).
