To provide a production method by which an olivine type lithium iron phosphate particle having excellent uniformity of particle diameter and chemical composition and high crystallinity is easily produced.
The method for producing the lithium iron phosphate particle comprises, in this order: a step of obtaining a molten material comprising only 2-40% Li2O, 40-70% FeO and 15-40% P2O5 expressed in term of oxide by mol%; a step of quickly cooling and solidifying the molten material; a step of crushing the solidified material to have a prescribed particle shape; and a step of heating the crushed material to 400-800°C to deposit a crystal containing olivine type lithium iron phosphate. At least the step of obtaining molten material and a step of heating the crushed material are carried out under an inert atmosphere or a reducing atmosphere.
