Abstract:
To provide a method for producing a low odorous water-soluble polyol.
This method for producing the water-soluble polyol comprises mixing a crude water-soluble polyol with water and at least one organic solvent selected from ketones and hydrocarbons, performing the phase-separation of the mixture into a water layer and an organic layer, and obtaining the water layer containing the water-soluble polyol. This polyol obtained by the above production or refining method has a low odor, scarcely strengthens the odor with time, and is useful for applications to raw materials for synthetic resins and surfactants, solvents, an antifreeze, cosmetics, and the like.
