To provide a method for efficiently and industrially advantageously producing a low-sulfur gasoline base material by a fluidized catalytic cracking (FCC) process or a combination of a direct desulfurization process and the FCC process.
The method for producing a low-sulfur gasoline base material comprises producing a gasoline base material having a sulfur content of at most 50 mass ppm by the FCC process, where a raw oil having a sulfur content of at most 0.2 mass% is employed as the raw oil fed into the FCC apparatus. Otherwise, the method for producing a low-sulfure gasoline base material comprises producing a gasoline base material having a sulfur content of at most 50 mass ppm by successively carrying out the direct desulfurization process and the FCC process, where a raw oil having an asphaltene content of at most 3 mass% is employed as the raw oil fed into the direct desulfurization apparatus.
