Abstract:
To provide a method for efficiently producing lower olefins by using a raw material oil containing oxygen-containing organic compounds originating in animal and plant oils and fats.
The method for producing lower olefins includes a first process for obtaining a hydrocarbon oil having an oxygen content of 1 mass% by subjecting the raw material oil containing oxygen-containing organic compounds originating in animal and plant oils and fats to hydrodeoxygenation and a second process for obtaining the lower olefins by thermally decomposing the hydrocarbon oil obtained in the first process at a temperature of 700-1,000C in the presence of water vapor.
