Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a metallic catalyst carrier, in which the crests of a corrugated metallic foil sheet can surely be stuck fast to a short-pitch corrugated or flat metallic foil sheet to ensure the sufficient joining strength of a honeycomb body by solving such a problem that the crests of the corrugated metallic foil sheet are not stuck fast to the short-pitch corrugated or flat metallic foil sheet in places from various causes of variations of the crests in shape and size, torsion of metallic foil sheets when they are wound, deformation of the honeycomb body when force-fit excessively into an outer cylinder, etc. and consequently the desired joining strength cannot be secured.

The honeycomb body 1 is subjected to such squeezing treatment that the outer peripheral part 6 of the honeycomb body 1 is held between a pair of elastic members and the resulting honeycomb body 1 is rolled in the shaft rotating direction and ironed by the elastic members.
