To provide a new method for producing a nitrile compound on the basis of the addition reaction of R-CN to a carbon-carbon multiple bond.
This method for producing the nitrile compound is characterized by using a nickel catalyst. Concrete methods include a method comprising reacting a compound having a carbon-carbon multiple bond with a compound represented by the general formula: R-CN in the presence of a nickel catalyst to add the cyano group and the group: -R to the carbon-carbon multiple bond, and a method comprising reacting a compound having a carbon-carbon multiple bond and a cyano group in the molecule (wherein the carbon-carbon multiple bond is separated from the cyano group through at least four carbon chains) in the presence of a nickel catalyst to add the cyano group and a carbon at the α-position of the cyano group to the carbon-carbon multiple bond, thus forming an intramolecular ring.
