Abstract:

To provide a method for catalytically synthesizing an optically active 4-oxy-2-aryl-2-alkylsiloxybutyronitrile without using any highly toxic osmium compound.

The method for producing the optically active 4-oxy-2-aryl-2-alkylsiloxybutyronitrile comprises carrying out a reaction of a compound of formula(I)( wherein, Ar is an aryl or heteroaryl; and R1 is H or a hydroxyl-protective group ) with a cyanating agent in the presence of an optically active catalyst.
