Abstract:

To provide a method for producing an optically active lactone compound capable of further improving an excess ratio of an enantiomer and a catalyst suitable for method for producing such the lactone compound.

The method for producing the optically active lactone compound comprises carrying out Baeyer-Villiger reaction of a cyclic ketone compound with at least one kind of oxidizing agent selected from a group consisting of hydrogen peroxide and hydrogen peroxide-urea-hydrogen peroxide adduct (UHP) by using a Zr (salen) complex represented by formula (I) or formula (II) (wherein Ar1s are each independently a 10-16C aryl group; Ys are each independently a phenoxy group or a 1-10C alkoxy group) in a solvent.
