To provide a fine pigment dispersion which can be prepared without performing a long-time treatment in a dispersion mixer and has a particle size being uniform and not depending on the size of primary particles of a pigment as a raw material and to provide a method for producing the same.

The method for producing the organic pigment dispersion comprises step 1 of dissolving an organic pigment and a dispersant in an acid or an acid/organic solvent mixed solvent and mixing the solution with water to precipitate the organic pigment to thereby make an organic pigment dispersion, step 2 of coagulating the organic pigment dispersion obtained in step 1 with an alkali to separate the organic pigment dispersion from the solvent, and step 3 of treating the organic pigment dispersion separated in step 2 with an acid.
