Abstract:
To efficiently remove impurities such as acids and phenol compounds in the production of a lignophenol derivative.
An acid is added under agitation to a lignin-containing material solvated with a phenol compound to form a phenol derivative of lignin. The obtained mixture is thrown into an excess of water to obtain a water-insoluble fraction. Acetone and/or methyl ethyl ketone are added to the water-insoluble fraction to extract the phenol derivative of lignin into the solvent. Then, the extract is added to at least one solvent selected from the group consisting of diisopropyl ether, n-hexane, cyclohexane, benzene, toluene, xylene, and water to recover the insoluble fraction to purify the phenol derivative of lignin.
