To provide a method for producing a polyamide fiber high in dispersibility in water when used as short-cut fibers after cut, and capable of giving a wet nonwoven fabric of good touch feeling or paper.
The method for producing the polyamide fiber comprises the following process. A polyamide is put to melt spinning, the resultant spun filament yarns Y are sized with a primary lubricant by an oiling roller 1, and then gathered together into an undrawn yarn bundle, which is put into a container. Thereafter, the undrawn yarn bundle is taken off the container, drawn and then sized with a secondary lubricant. In this method, as the primary lubricant, a lubricant 5 containing no alkyl phosphate metal salt is used; as the oiling roller, such an oiling roller as to rotate while immersing part thereof in a lubricant bath 4 and dripping the lubricant from above the roller is used; the temperature of the primary lubricant to be dripped is set at 15C or lower; and the lubricants are imparted so as to be 0.05-0.10 mass% in the primary lubricant pickup and 0.2-0.5 mass% in the total pickup of the primary and secondary lubricants.
