Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing prenyl alcohol.
SOLUTION: This method for producing the prenyl alcohol is characterized by culturing an acetyl CoA-synthesizing gene-transduced or expression-reinforced host cell and then collecting the prenyl alcohol from the culture product. Preferably, the host cell is subjected to the transduction or expression reinforcement of the gene (for example, acetyl CoA acetyltransferase gene) of an enzyme participating in a prenyl diphosphate biosynthesis route. Further preferably, the host cell is subjected to the transduction or expression reinforcement of the acetyl CoA acetyltransferase gene and the gene of the enzyme participating in the prenyl diphosphate biosynthesis route as a combined gene.
