To provide an excellent method for producing propylene oxide with which the yield of an epoxidation reaction can be increased in the method for continuously producing propylene oxide by the epoxidation reaction of an organic peroxide with propylene.
The method for producing the propylene oxide is carried out as follows. Reaction conditions are controlled by monitoring the concentration of a 1C compound which is a reaction by-product when the propylene oxide is continuously produced according to the epoxidation reaction of the organic peroxide with the propylene. Cumene hydroperoxide produced by oxidizing cumene, ethylbenzene hydroperoxide produced by oxidizing ethylbenzene and tert-butyl hydroperoxide produced by oxidizing isobutane can be exemplified as the organic peroxide.
