Abstract:

To provide a method for efficiently producing a pyridinealdehyde from the corresponding cyanopyridine.

This method for producing a pyridinealdehyde comprises catalytically reducing the corresponding cyanopyridine with hydrogen in water or a hydrous solvent in the presence of a catalytically reducing catalyst and an acid; wherein this method is characterized by that the reaction liquid after the reduction is treated by adding an acid anhydride thereto and then refined.
