Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a self-foaming thermosetting liquid silicone rubber composition of addition reaction curable type, foaming and cured at low temperatures, having good adhesive property, excellent in one pack preservability and thereby capable of being made one pack type.

The method for producing a silicone rubber foam comprises heating at 80-180°C the self-foaming thermosetting liquid silicone rubber composition comprising (A) 100 pts.wt. of an alkenyl-having diorganopolysiloxane having at least two alkenyl in a molecule, (B) 0.1-20 pts.wt. of an organohydrogen polysiloxane having in a molecule at least two hydrogen atoms bonded with silicon atom, (C) 0.1-500 ppm of a platinum group metal catalyst, expressed in terms of platinum group metal weight per total weight of the (A) component and the (B) component, and (D) 0.5-50 pts.wt. of an organoperoxide selected from a dialkyl peroxide, perester, percarbonate and peroxydicarbonate group, and containing no alcohol.
