Abstract:
To provide a long obliquely stretched film with reduced variation in in-plane phase difference and/or orientation angle.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a stretched film includes: carrying a long film so that it passes through a stretching zone and a thermal fixing zone in this order in a state of gripping each of right and left end portions using variable-pitch right and left clips that vary in clip pitch in a vertical direction; causing the right and left clips to run and move in the stretching zone while varying clip pitch of at least one of the clips so that one of the right and left clips runs ahead the other one of the clips, to stretch the film obliquely; and thermally fixing the film in the thermal fixing zone. A temperature of an end portion side gripped by the clip that runs ahead in a width direction of the film in the thermal fixing zone is higher than that of the other end portion side, and isothermal lines form a temperature gradient region that extends in an oblique direction with respect to the width direction of the film.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
