Abstract:

To provide a new method for producing valsartan.

There is provided a production method comprising the steps of: (i) reacting a compound represented by formula (iva) or a salt thereof with a compound represented by formula (ivb) under an acidic condition; (ii) reacting the obtained compound represented by formula (ivc) with a compound represented by formula (ivd) in the presence of a transition metal catalyst; (iii) removing the protective group from the obtained compound represented by formula (ive) by treating with an acid in a continuous or single step; and (iv) isolating the obtained compound represented by formula (IIa'), or a salt thereof.
