Abstract:
To provide a method for producing a vinyl alcohol-N-vinylamine copolymer whereby the shortening of time for the hydrolysis in the conversion of amine, the standardization of conversion rate distribution and the shortening of time for the solid-liquid separation after the hydrolysis are possible.
In the production of a vinyl alcohol-vinylamine copolymer wherein a particle of vinyl alcohol-N-vinylcarboxamide copolymer is suspended in an alcoholic solvent and hydrolyzed with an acid or a base in the presence of a water, the particle having an average code length of 50-550 μm which is determined in 10 wt.% slurry of the solvent is used.
