Abstract:
To provide a method for producing a vinyl polymer, which can produce a vinyl polymer having a sufficiently narrow molecular weight distribution.SOLUTION: A method for producing a vinyl polymer comprises: a polymerization step of obtaining a polymer solution (S1) containing a vinyl polymer (P1) having thiocarbonylthio groups by polymerizing a monomer(s) in a polymerization solvent by a reversible addition-cleavage chain transfer-type living radical polymerization method; and a reaction step of obtaining a polymer solution (S2) containing a vinyl polymer (P2) by reacting the thiocarbonylthio groups which the vinyl polymer (P1) has and an amine compound in the polymer solution (S1). In the polymerization step, a vinyl polymer is produced by a method where polymerization is carried out by using, as the polymerization solvent, a solvent (S3) containing a recovered solvent which is recovered from the polymer solution (S2) after a reaction between the vinyl polymer (P1) and the amine compound, where a content of the amine compound in the solvent (S3) is 0.025 mmol/g or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None
