Abstract:
To provide a method for producing a water absorbent resin composition which can efficiently produce a water absorbent resin composition containing a crosslinked polymer having a plant-derived raw material useful in environment preserving aspects from the viewpoint of carbon neutral as a constitutional unit.SOLUTION: A method for producing a water absorbent resin composition which contains a crosslinked polymer (A) having one or more monomers (A1) selected from the group consisting of a water-soluble unsaturated monocarboxylic acid (a1) and its salt, one or more monomers (A2) selected from the group consisting of a water-soluble unsaturated dicarboxylic acid (a3) and its salt, and a crosslinking agent (b) as constitutional units includes: a polymerization step of polymerizing a monomer composition containing the monomers (A1), the monomers (A2) and the crosslinking agent (b) to obtain hydrous gel containing the crosslinked polymer (A); and a drying step of drying the hydrous gel in the presence of a hydrophobic substance (e).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
