Abstract:

To provide a method for production of monothiocarbonates which is useful for industrial scale production.SOLUTION: A method for production of a compound with at least one monothiocarbonate group represented by a formula I comprises reacting a dialkylcarbonate with a compound with at least one mercaptoalcohol group in the presence of a catalyst that is a salt of a metal selected from groups IIIb and IVb of a periodic system. [In the formula, R1 to R4 each independently represent hydrogen or an organic group comprising up to 50 carbon atoms, and thus R2, R4 and the two carbon atoms to which R2 and R4 are bonded optionally form a ring system.]SELECTED DRAWING: None
