METHOD FOR PURIFYING 4-HALODIFLUOROMETHOXYNEOPHYL 3-PHENOXYBENZYL ETHER

Abstract:

PURPOSE: To purify the subject compound useful as an agricultural chemical, etc., in high yield and to obtain a high-purity purified substance by treating a crude formed product of a halodifluoromethoxyneophyl-phenoxybenzyl ether with a specified method.

CONSTITUTION: First, a crude formed product of a 4- halodifluoromethoxyneophyl-3-phenoxybenzyl ether of the formula (Z is halogen; Y is H or F) is extracted with a 5-20C aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent (e.g. pentane or heptane) preferably at -20 to 50°C. Then, the 5-20C aliphatic hydrocarbon solution containing the compound of the formula is treated with active carbon and only impurities are selectively adsorbed on the active carbon to isolate and purify the compound of the formula. The treatment with the active carbon is preferably carried out by passing the hydrocarbon solution through an active carbon packed column by counter flow method. The temperature in passing of the solution through the column is preferably 0-50°C and SV(H-1) is preferably 0.05-10, respectively. Granular active carbon having 5-100 mesh is preferable as the active carbon.
