To provide a method for purifying a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, capable of inhibiting formation of by-products, such as diester and (meth)acrylic acid dimmer, capable of assuring purity of the hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, and further capable of stably conducting operation without causing troubles such as polymerization, when purified through a distillation process.
In this method for purifying the hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate comprising reacting an alkylene oxide with (meth)acrylic acid in the presence of a catalyst, removing the unreacted alkylene oxide and/or the unreacted (meth) acrylic acid from the resulting reaction mixture, then purifying the obtained hydroxyakyl (meth)acrylate, the purification is carried out by together using a distillation still having a void space and a thin-film evaporator.
