To maintain the adhesive properties of a coating film for a long period and to control the peeling of the coating film effectively by applying a finish coat after the old coating film surface of an existing cement type roofing material and a cement type base material layer being impregnated with a sealer.
A cement type roofing material 1 comprising a cement base material layer 4 surface and a coating film layer is re-coated. In this process, for example, the viscosity and the amount of application of a two-component curing type solvent base acrylic sealer 3 are adjusted lest the sealer 3 is laminated on the surface of an old coating film 2 (5 μm or below), sealer-impregnated layers 7 are formed only on the old coating film 2 and the cement base material layer 4, and the sealer 3 is applied with a brush and others so that the depth of the sealer 3 penetrating into the cement base material layer 4 is 10-500 μm, more preferably 20-300 μm. In the application of the sealer 3, the amount of the solid components of the sealer 3 to be applied is preferably 1-25 g/m2. For example, a two-component curing type solvent base acrylic coating is applied with a brush and others to obtain the re-coated cement type roofing material 1.
