Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reuse sand grains used in a cold box process molding method.
CONSTITUTION: After casting, the mold is broken and further, pulverized to separate the used molding sand to the individual sand particles, then the particles are applied with mechanical shock sufficient to crush a binder content coating the outer surface of the sand particles, and washed with water, thereby the part stuck to the sand particles still due to electrostatical charging is substantially removed from the sand particles. Thus, the molding sand is reconditioned. The mechanical shock may be executed over plural times.
