PURPOSE: To carry out heat recovery in high efficiency from the main exhaust gas of a sintering machine by utilizing CO oxidation, by bringing the main gas from the ore discharge side part including the parts before and behind the calcination completion part of a sinter machine into contact with a CO-oxidizing catalyst in flowing and by introducing the above exhaust gas into a recuperator.
CONSTITUTION: In a Dwight Lloyd sinter machine 1 consisting of a sole hopper 2, a raw- material hopper 3, an endless pallet 4, an ignition furnace 5, window boxes 6, etc., air is sucked from each window box 6 by means of a main exhauster 9 and the raw material on the pallet 4 is calcined and then the main exhaust gases are introduced via a main exhaust pipe 7 into an electric precipitator 8 to undergo dust removal and are discharged by means of a stack 10. Among the above main exhaust gases, a hot CO containing main exhaust gas from the ore discharge side part including the parts before and behind the calcination completion part is drawn off by means of a bypass pipe 14. Subsequently, the above main exhaust gas is subjected to dust removal by means of a dust collector 15 and is introduced into an oxidizing reactor 16, where the above contained CO is oxidized by the catalyst and, by means of the resulting reaction heat, the main exhaust gas is subjected to temp. rise. After that, the main exhaust gas is introduced into a recuperator 17 to undergo heat recovery, which is returned to the main exhaust pipe 7.
