Abstract:

To provide a method and an apparatus for recovering formaldehyde from polyacetal, in which formaldehyde can be recovered from polyacetal efficiently in a low temperature range.

Formaldehyde is recovered from polyacetal by dry-type heat decomposition of the polyacetal using a solid catalyst capable of producing a proton (H+). The solid catalyst capable of producing a proton (H+) is preferably a solid catalyst comprising a metal oxide subjected to acid treatment, or a proton (H+) exchange-type zeolite.
