Abstract:
PURPOSE: To volatilize and recover efficiently Se and Ag contained in metallic copper by treating the metallic copper at a high temp. in vacuum having a high degree of vacuum.
CONSTITUTION: Metallic copper such as crude copper obtd. in a smelting furnace or copper alloy scraps is put in a vacuum refining apparatus of DH type or the like, and it is treated at ≥1,200°C in vacuum having ≤1.0mmHg degree of vacuum to recover efficiently Se and Ag contained in the metallic copper. By the treatment, high-purity copper and high-purity Se and Ag as starting materials are obtd. The volatilization and recovery of Se and Ag can be facilitated by carrying out the vacuum treatment in an oxidizing atmosphere.
