Title:
METHOD FOR RECOVERING TITANIUM FROM TITANIUM-CONTAINING SCRAP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3673919
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently recovering titanium having high purity at a low cost with which in a vacuum-melting process with an electron- beam, while removing impurities from platy or bulky titanium-containing scrap partly sticking low melting point metal and hard titanium nitride or titanium oxide, these scraps are easily melted and refined, and the raise of gas components such as oxygen in the electron-beam melting, is restrained.
SOLUTION: The recovering method of titanium from the titanium-containing scrap is composed of a process, in which the titanium-containing scrap sticking the low melting point metal is heated to not lower than the melting point of this low melting point metal, melted and removed, of a process in which the titanium compound on the surface of the titanium is removed with a blasting treatment or cutting-off, and a process for performing a pickling or the vacuum- melting.
