Title:
METHOD FOR RECOVERING TITANIUM VALUES
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2563011
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To effectively recover titanium values from a complex matrix contg. titanium nitride as a component by chlorinating the titanium nitride in the matrix and separating titanium chloride from the reaction product.
CONSTITUTION: A chlorinating gas is brought into contact with a complex matrix contg. titanium nitride as a component at a temp. of 200-500°C to chlorinate the titanium nitride and titanium chloride is obtd. as TiCl4. The complex matrix contg. titanium nitride is prepd. by nitriding titanium values in titanium- contg. complex starting materials. This method for recovering the titanium values is useful particularly for metallurgical starting materials contg. <80 wt.% titanium values, e.g. titanium-contg. complex ores or slags.
