To recycle a large number of used automobiles and used household electrical appliances as an iron source without applying shredding treatment, i.e., without generating shredder dust.
On melting scrapped automobile press scraps or scrapped household electrical appliance scraps 16 obtained from the used automobiles or used household electrical appliances, respectively, without application of shredding treatment in a melting chamber 2 having a heat source 19, the scrapped automobile press scraps or scrapped household electrical appliance scraps in the melting chamber are melted by means of the above heat source while putting the press scraps or appliance scraps on the unmelted press scraps or appliance scraps so that a state where the unmelted press scraps or appliance scraps exist in the melting chamber can be held. Then, tapping is performed at the point of time when a prescribed amount of molten metal 17 is produced in the melting chamber.
