Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce a binary image to an integral submultiple without losing line information present in its original image.
CONSTITUTION: This method is equipped with a dividing means which generates reduction evaluation units (1)-(4) by dividing longitudinal and lateral pixels constituting the original image by an integral reduction rate, an address setting means which provides the reduction evaluation units (1)-(4) by addresses and takes those addresses out in order, a prime number takeout means which takes out pixel prime numbers of an evaluation pattern a1 forming an inverted L shape, cross shape, etc., composed of a minimum number of pixels as the evaluation pattern a1 for reduction in order, a black/white decision means which decides the prime numbers taken out by the means, a reduction storage means which stores a prime number as a reduced screen or character recognition when black is decided, a sending-out means which decides whether or not the prime numbers of the evaluation pattern a1 are black or not in order, and a extracting means which extracts the addresses of the respective reduction evaluation units (1)-(4) in order.
