Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively reducing the release of stench from an aqueous vinyl aromatic-1,3-diene copolymer dispersion.
SOLUTION: A monomer of an alkyl ester and a monomer of a vinyl ester of an aliphatic carboxylic acid are added to a reaction mixture in one step or successive two steps at nearly final stage of an emulsion polymerization of a vinyl aromat and a mixture containing a 1,3-diene. Because only a slight amount of the alkyl ester and the vinyl ester is sufficient for the deodorant action, generally the technical properties for using the aqueous dispersion is not affected by the addition thereof.
