To provide a method for refining high-purity bismuth while efficiently recovering valuable metals from lead anode slime.
The method for refining bismuth includes the steps of: adding zinc to a bismuth molten metal containing at least silver and generating a compound of zinc and silver to recover the compound as a dross; treating the bismuth molten metal after recovering the dross of the compound of zinc and silver with chlorination treatment to recover lead and residual zinc from the molten metal as a lead chloride and a zinc chloride, respectively; casting the bismuth molten metal remained after recovering the lead chloride and the zinc chloride into an anode; and refining bismuth through electrolytic treatment by the use of the cast anode.
