Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the desulfurizing efficiency of molten steel by vacuum- degassing.
CONSTITUTION: An MgO-series slag reforming agent is injected on the molten steel surface by Ar gas from a lance 4 at the initial stage of the degassing in the molten steel 1 and floated up in a ladle 2 by the molten steel 1 circulated from a degassing vessel 3. As the m.p. of the ladle slag 8 is raised by MgO component, this slag is easily solidified. As the resulfurization from the solidified ladle slag 8 to the molten steel 1 is suppressed, the desulfurization of the desulfurizing flux continuously injected from the lance 4 is promoted.
