Abstract:
PURPOSE:To stabilize a transmission characteristic with a temp. change by forming an external reinforcing case in such a manner that the strain of an internal reinforcing base plate generated by the thermal stress of the ambient temp. ranging from -40 deg.C to 80 deg.C is confined to <=0.1%. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 1 is an optical fiber of a quartz system. Quartz, ceramics, etc., are used as the material of the internal reinforcing base plate 3. The internal reinforcing base plate fixed with the fiber type coupler is obtd. if the fiber type coupler is housed in the groove of this base plate and the unfused part is fixed by an adhesive 4. The external reinforcing case 5 is so formed that the strain of the internal reinforcing base plate 3 generated by the thermal stress of the ambient temp. ranging from -40 deg.C to 80 deg.C is confined to <=0.1% in this case. The transmission characteristic stable in the special environment of particularly high and low temps. is obtd. in this way.
