Title:
METHOD FOR REMOVING ACID
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01207258
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To simply remove a free fatty acid and carry out deacidification treatment in large quantities, by making it possible to separate the free fatty acid present as a mixture in a fatty acid ester into water phase and oil phase using two kind of solvents.

CONSTITUTION: A water soluble organic solvent (e.g., ethanol or acetone) and water insoluble organic solvent (e.g., hexane or chloroform) are added to raw material oil and fats containing a free fatty acid and then an aqueous alkali solution (e.g., NaOH aqueous solution) is added thereto and the mixture is stirred to give an alkali soap of free fatty acid. The mixture is separated into oil phase and water phase by allowing the mixture to stand to provide the aimed fatty acid ester. The alkali is used at amount of 1W1.5 times based on equivalent of free fatty acid and the concentration of aqueous solution is adjusted to 0.5W2 normality. The solvents are used in combination of water soluble solvent : water insoluble solvent of about 1:1W1:3 and total solvent amount required is 1W2 times amount based on the fatty acid ester subjected to deacidification treatment.
