Abstract:

PURPOSE: To remove an allyl group, etc., in high selectivity and high yield without exercising bad influence on other functional group by reacting a specific compound containing an allyl group, etc., with a sulfinic acid compound in the presence of a Pd catalyst in an inert solvent.
CONSTITUTION: This method for removing an allyl group or allyloxycarbonyl group is to react an ally ester of a carboxylic acid, an allyloxycarbonyl derivative of an alcohol or an allyloxycarbonyl derivative of an amine with a sulfinic acid compound of the formula, X-SO3M [X is a 1-20C (substituted)alkyl or (substituted)phenyl, etc.; M is H, an alkali metal or an ammonium salt residue] in the presence of Pd catalyst comprising tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium (O), etc., capable of readily forming π-allyl complex by reaction with the allyl compound in an inert solvent such as alcohols, etc. and convert these derivative into a carboxylic acid, an alcohol or an amine.
