Abstract:

To prevent the occurrence of defective quality caused by casting defect by pressing the surface with the pressure enough to crush blow holes without applying any shock.

The upper surface 2u of a cylinder block 2 is pressed by pressing pins 6 fitted to a pressing mechanism 4. The pressing mechanism 4 can be elevated/lowered and can apply a prescribed pressing force to the cylinder block 2 without applying any shock from the step when the tip parts of the pressing pins 6 abut on the upper surface 2u of the cylinder block 2. The pressing force applied to the cylinder block 2 is set to the value capable of surely crushing the blow hole K, etc., on the surface layer of the cylinder block 2. The surface of a casting can be pressed by a rolling-contact means. Thus, the casting can be prevented from being broken and deformed.
