Title:
METHOD FOR REMOVING HALOGEN RADICAL IN FERRIC OXIDE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2631429
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently remove the halogen radical in ferric oxide (Fe2O3).
CONSTITUTION: The powder of ferric oxide contg. chlorine radical is mixed with aq. sodium hydroxide to obtain a slurry, and the slurry is regulated to pH 8, for example, and heated at ≥80°C for one hour. Consequently, the chlorine radical in ferric oxide reacts with the sodium hydroxide in the aq. sodium hydroxide to form sodium chloride, and the iron salts in the aq. sodium hydroxide are neutralized, dehydrated and oxidized to form ferric oxide (Fe2O3). The slurry is then filtered to separate solid and liq., and the powder of ferric oxide as the solid is cleaned with industrial water, city water, ion-exchanged water, etc., and then dried.
