Title:
METHOD FOR REMOVING TRAMP ELEMENT FROM STEEL SCRAP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04198425
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently precipitate away tramp elements from steel scrap by immersing steel scrap in a lead series molten material to start to melt tramp elements and reducing the temp. of the molten material.

CONSTITUTION: Iron scrap is immersed in a lead series molten material of ≥600°C to start to melt tramp elements such as copper. The temp. of the above lead series molten material is reduced to ≤500°C to precipitate away the tramp elements melted into the lead series molten material. The lead series molten material is circularly used. The lead series molten material is a one essentially consisting of lead, and by immersing the scrap therein, the one in which components such as copper, tin, zinc and antimony are melted is formed. In this way, the scrap can be used widely as the iron source for manufacturing steel including high purity steel.
