PURPOSE: To repair a yarn breakage in the case of joint winding in a method and apparatus for repairing the yarn breakage of a spinning machine.

CONSTITUTION: Two parallel spun yarns 8 and 8a are wound on a joint cross- wound bobbin 15. The supply of slivers 32 and 32a to the bobbin 15 and drafting devices 11 and 11a is stopped in the case of the yarn breakage. The end of the other yarn 8a is wound by a suction tube 69. The yarns 8 and 8a are simultaneously deposited on the drafting devices 11 and 11a after threading of the two yarns 8 and 8a and the start of the bobbin 15 and a draw-off device 14. Sliver stoppers 30 and 30a are so actuated as to be continued therewith. As a result, the yarn breakage is removed in twin spinning. The joint parts of the yarns are offset from each other and the thickening of the yarns in this portion does not occur at the time of subsequent twisting of the two yarns.
