PURPOSE: To prevent occurrence of burr by fixing a hot rolled round steel billet, for example, sawing at least 1/2 of the diameter of the billet and then sawing the remaining part thereof while rotating the steel material.
CONSTITUTION: A round steel billet 3 is fixedly clamped by a billet rotating apparatus 1. A rotating circular saw 2 is advanced to contact the billet 3 and then hot saws at least 1/2 of the diameter of the round steel billet 3 before the advances 12 the advance of a saw edge 2 is stopped. Next, the round steel billet 3 is rotated and the remaining portion is cut off. Thus, in the final cut- off operation the occurrence of burr at the sawn section of the billet is blocked so that the billet can be transferred and the working operation of the subsequent process can be carried out with high efficiency.
