Abstract:

To provide a method for obtaining a sugar chain where a specific branch terminal is selectively isotope-labeled.

The method for selectively labeling the terminal sugar chain residue isotope of a sugar chain, wherein the objective labeled sugar chain has a branched structure and has an isotope-labeled sugar residue on a specific branch end, comprises the following way: Using as the raw material a precursor sugar chain with no above-mentioned terminal sugar residue of the objective labeled sugar chain, an isotope marker of a sugar corresponding to the terminal sugar residue is introduced onto the specific branch end of the precursor sugar chain, thus obtaining the objective sugar chain where the specific branch terminal sugar residue is selectively isotope-labeled.
